Plenty of Ice Left in the Brainerd Lakes Area

I am normally home for weekends but this past weekend was a little different.  I had the privilege to film an episode for Jason Mitchell Outdoors at Wekusko Falls Lodge in northern Manitoba targeting giant lake trout.  Fish up to 40+ inches seen day light and it is going to be an awesome episode to say the least!   I did get the chance to rip a few lips myself catching several walleyes and a really nice pike. Brainerd Area Lakes Have Turned Over and the Fishing Remains Excellent

What I really enjoy about this time of the year is the fish generally do the same thing each year.  If you have a waypoint from years past, it doesn’t matter what the species is, the fish will be there.  You can truly fish by memory and succeed, especially on the smaller lakes.

A few years ago, however, I met a young man who never fails to announce to the world that he too has a dream job that ...

Nate Berg, 12, Approaches 500 Fishing Days—the Mind Reels

Posted by:

He seems too young to be a hometown hero, but blond, barrel-chested Nate Berg is making Blair (pop. 1,142), Wis., famous. And all because he likes to fish. Nate is so hooked on wielding a rod and reel that this week, on Aug. 9, he will achieve an unsnapped string of 500 straight fishing days.

Naturally, neither rain, sleet, cold nor predawn gloom could stay Nate from an appointment of at least a few minutes each day beside a local body ...
