Fishing is Simply Incredible in the Brainerd Lakes Area

It was a fairly slow start to the 2019 open water season but in the past 3 weeks, fishing has turned into maybe the best summer walleye pattern that I can remember.  The fish are staying shallow and they are actively feeding during the daylight hours.  Simply find green weeds in the 7-10 foot mark and you are going to find actively feeding walleyes. The Panfish are Going Ballistic in the Brainerd Lakes Area

In the past 2 weeks we have seen ice conditions drastically improve for lake travel. Auto travel is done but you can still access the lakes via ATV, UTV and snowmobiles. Some lakes do have some slush under the top layer of ice but for the most part, the lakes have sealed up with the cold temps at night. The best part about those low temps is they are keeping the accesses sealed as well.

Extravaganza is Here and the Fishing is Still Solid

Summer Patterns are Forming in the Brainerd Lakes Area

What an awesome week it has been for fishing in the Brainerd Lakes Area despite the rain we have been receiving.  Bass, crappies and bluegills have all in their post spawn patterns and walleyes are starting to transition into their mid summer patterns.

Plenty of Ice Left in the Brainerd Lakes Area

I am normally home for weekends but this past weekend was a little different.  I had the privilege to film an episode for Jason Mitchell Outdoors at Wekusko Falls Lodge in northern Manitoba targeting giant lake trout.  Fish up to 40+ inches seen day light and it is going to be an awesome episode to say the least!   I did get the chance to rip a few lips myself catching several walleyes and a really nice pike.
