Wonderful Opener in the Brainerd Lakes

Fishing across the Brainerd area has been all over the board. With the warm weather, our water temps are screaming up fast. Look for patterns to change fairly fast as we move forward, especially with our forecasted temperatures. I expect the weeds to seriously sprout in the next few days. We have forecasted temps for 90 on Saturday. That will really change some things.

Fishing is Simply Incredible in the Brainerd Lakes Area

It was a fairly slow start to the 2019 open water season but in the past 3 weeks, fishing has turned into maybe the best summer walleye pattern that I can remember. The Panfish are Going Ballistic in the Brainerd Lakes Area

In the past 2 weeks we have seen ice conditions drastically improve for lake travel. Auto travel is done but you can still access the lakes via ATV, UTV and snowmobiles. Some lakes do have some slush under the top layer of ice but for the most part, the lakes have sealed up with the cold temps at night. The best part about those low temps is they are keeping the accesses sealed as well.

We are Ice Free in the Brainerd Lakes Area and the Fish are Biting!

What a strange year for ice off it has been. a week ago last Friday I was walking on solid ice pounding a spud bar as hard as I could and I thought there was no way the ice was going to be gone. Ice is Starting to Decline in the Brainerd Lakes Area

I did a bunch of driving around today and visited 10 different lakes and the ice is in various conditions. But what really confused me is some of the lakes that normally have the earliest ice out have solid ice all around them yet and some of the larger lakes have had shores open up.
